says Neela Chauhan, partner at UHY Hacker Young &#8211; which carried out the FOI.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;A lot of the traders are young, have had little previous exposure to HMRC and often work under the assumption that HMRC has limited visibility over their activities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In the 2025-26 financial year, HMRC sent 81,172 warning letters, emails and text messages to crypto investors it suspects may have underpaid tax.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The number in 2023-24 was just 27,714.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">An HMRC spokesperson said: &#8220;We\u2019re committed to helping people pay the right amount of tax, and the vast majority do.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;We regularly send letters to educate, remind or prompt customers to review their tax affairs, including customers who use crypto assets.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
