The original 2018 contract was to modify and outfit two 747-8 aircraft for presidential use.<\/p>\n<p>The contract aimed for initial delivery of an Air Force One aircraft by the end of 2024. The current timeframe is for delivery in mid-2028 and mid-2029.<\/p>\n<p>Boeing described certification efforts for new 737 MAX and 777 planes as on track with US air regulators. Boeing has said the first of these planes \u2014 the 737 MAX 7 \u2014 is in the \u201clast throes\u201d of the process.<\/p>\n<p>In early July, Boeing unveiled new 737 MAX production at a \u201cNorth Line\u201d in Everett, Washington designed to enable the company to further ramp up plane output.<\/p>\n<p>In the second quarter Boeing \u201cbegan transitioning production to 47\u201d 737 jets per month, Boeing said Tuesday. The company has said the North Line will enable it to reach 52 MAX airplanes a month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Chief Executive Kelly Ortberg said he was pleased with the company\u2019s progress. When Ortberg joined Boeing about two years ago, the company was reeling after crashes and safety problems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLooking back at our first half, I\u2019m proud of what we\u2019ve accomplished so far and how we\u2019ve laid the groundwork to complete the important work still ahead of us this year,\u201d Ortberg said in a letter to employees.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile we\u2019re making progress on our development programs, you\u2019re never done until you\u2019re done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, the Federal Aviation Administration released a preliminary directive ordering inspections on more than 450 US 737 MAX jets over potential faulty installation of passenger seats.<\/p>\n<p>The safety regulator said incorrect installation can lead seats to disengage from seat tracks, which \u201ccould result in injury to passengers and crew during an emergency landing or could block the aisle, which could slow evacuation.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Shares of Boeing rose 0.7 percent in pre-market trading.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
