I know the s*** I\u2019ve been through, which is no fault of my own, but it does take its toll,&#8217; an upset Ramsay-Peaty said after winning the bronze medal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I\u2019m not crying because it\u2019s bronze instead of gold. I\u2019m crying because I know I am better than that.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I feel like I couldn\u2019t have put any more in and that\u2019s where it hurts, because I\u2019m like \u2018what\u2019s the point of all the metres every day, what\u2019s the point of being exhausted all the time?&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;What\u2019s the point of having to say no to family events because you can\u2019t go to training\u2019? It has to mean something and for me it has to be human excellence and that is not excellence for me. It can break you. It can make you. You can have highs to highs and lows to lows.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;My wife is always going to be proud of me. As a father, it doesn\u2019t matter if you come home with a gold \u2013 as long as you come home with a teddy, which I did.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The emotion is something I\u2019m always going to carry. I\u2019m never going to be afraid to show weakness.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flourish-embed flourish-chart\" data-src=\"visualisation\/27036190\" data-secret=\"YAZN4hQqdU\"><\/div>\n<p>&#8216;Because it\u2019s so important for making stronger people, making stronger men, stronger fathers, husbands.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I can\u2019t really put in where it went wrong. Maybe it\u2019s just an off-swim. Or maybe it\u2019s just because I\u2019ve been two years out of the championship heats and semi-finals. But it does hurt.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;There\u2019s a lot going on in my head right now. The same thing happened four years ago in Birmingham.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It\u2019s about ignoring most of the rubbish you read about me online.
