It actually attacked its internal system to exploit its own vulnerabilities,\u201d Abbass said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd that\u2019s scary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>GPT-5.6 and other cutting-edge models, including the Mythos series from OpenAI\u2019s archrival Anthropic, have drawn concern over their potential to breach cybersecurity defences.<\/p>\n<p>Both the US firms had to temporarily withhold the general release of these latest technologies because of fears in Washington that they could help break into crucial infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Advanced AI is \u201cnormally in the hands of people who are ethical and responsible\u201d, Abbass said.<\/p>\n<p>But \u201cit\u2019s going to be catastrophic if it gets in someone\u2019s hands with the intention to cause harm\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>How to govern the AI sector has become a key question, and \u201cwe need a community effort to manage this situation\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n<p>Hugging Face had reported the cyber \u201cintrusion\u201d last week, without mentioning OpenAI.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis one was different from anything we had handled before in one important way: it was driven, end to end, by an autonomous AI agent system \u2014 and we detected and dissected it largely with AI of our own,\u201d Hugging Face said.<\/p>\n<p>Clement Delangue, CEO of Hugging Face, said on X that the company had suspected the cyberattack had come from a world-leading AI lab, given the sophistication of the agent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe strongly believe there was no malicious intent on their part,\u201d Delangue wrote, referring to OpenAI.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s quite mind-blowing that all of this happened autonomously!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
