If there\u2019s any festival\u2026 more work comes,\u201d said the mother of four.<\/p>\n<p>Domestic work in India has long been associated with low wages and concerns over abuse or exploitation.<\/p>\n<p>But with few barriers to entry, the sector still attracts many workers who migrate from rural areas to cities in search of opportunity, often juggling jobs across several households in a day.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 60,000 jobs a day \u2013<\/p>\n<p>Not everyone is ready to join the app bandwagon just yet.<\/p>\n<p>For Renu Devi, a 38-year-old helper from Uttar Pradesh, the traditional system feels safer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am scared that I might have to go to a house where I don\u2019t know if I will be safe,\u201d she said. \u201cAt the moment, I know the people who I work for and I can trust them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Labour advocates question whether app-based work meaningfully improves workers\u2019 conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Sanjay Gaba, president of the All India Gig and Platform Workers Union, said the system simply replaces one form of exploitation with another.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe app system is 100 percent unfair,\u201d he told AFP. \u201cThey don\u2019t have any job security. They don\u2019t have benefits like pension because they are not permanent employees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aayush Agarwal, founder and chief executive of Snabbit, said flexible hours were key to the platform\u2019s popularity among workers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday a mother can send her kid off to school, work at Snabbit for four hours and come back before the kid comes back from school,\u201d he told AFP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is an opportunity that these women see in a very positive light.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Snabbit operates across 10 cities, including Delhi and Mumbai, with 20,000 registered workers clocking an average of 60,000 jobs daily.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 No \u2018fixed schedule\u2019 \u2013<\/p>\n<p>Homemaker Atiya Khusro, 63, said she preferred booking helps online.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith regular helps, there is a fixed schedule and I have to adjust my routine around their availability,\u201d she told AFP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith instant helps there is no such issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The model is becoming increasingly common across India\u2019s booming gig economy.<\/p>\n<p>Pronto advertises hourly services ranging from window cleaning to \u201cafter-party express clean-ups\u201d, while Urban Company offers everything from repairs to salon treatments at the touch of a button.<\/p>\n<p>Before joining the platforms, workers undergo background checks, including police verification.<\/p>\n<p>As part of soft skills training, they are taught how to tie their hair neatly and greet customers.<\/p>\n<p>Every customer rating matters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf anybody is less than four (out of five), our training team ensures that we call her and understand what is the problem,\u201d said Bhoomika Saigal, Snabbit\u2019s director of training and quality.<\/p>\n<p>Industry leaders argue that apps are expanding options rather than replacing traditional work.<\/p>\n<p>Snabbit\u2019s Agarwal said his goal was to replicate the shift online that the ride-hailing market has gone through.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhether it\u2019s a Sunday morning\u2026 (or) a festival, you should open the app and be able to see a slot and be able to book,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
