The company defended its position after the ruling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe firmly believe the DMA\u2019s mandate goes beyond what is lawful and proportionate, threatening to erode decades of privacy and security protections we\u2019ve built and leaving our users vulnerable to new risks,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will continue advocating for the innovation and privacy our European customers deserve,\u201d Apple added in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Apple had also brought a challenge against the EU concerning iMessage but the court found the actions relating to iMessage \u201cinadmissable\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The EU had investigated whether iMessage should also comply with the DMA but ultimately Brussels decided against more rules on the messaging service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNone of the obligations laid down by the DMA applies to iMessage since that service has not been listed in a designation decision as an important gateway,\u201d the court said.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 \u2018Good news\u2019 \u2013<\/p>\n<p>A separate case brought by Apple relates to interoperability under the DMA, as it forces companies to make their products accessible to rivals.<\/p>\n<p>The same EU court is still due to rule on interoperability.<\/p>\n<p>The decision is another victory for the European Commission, the EU\u2019s digital watchdog, after TikTok and Meta also lost challenges against the DMA.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese-owned TikTok has, however, challenged the lower court\u2019s 2024 ruling.<\/p>\n<p>The European Consumer Organisation (BEUC) welcomed Wednesday\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is good news,\u201d BEUC director general Agustin Reyna said, adding: \u201cAnything less would have jeopardised the positive impact the Digital Markets Act is having in creating more choice for consumers online.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added Apple\u2019s \u201cresources would be better spent directed towards complying in full and without delay with the law\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
