height: 750px; background: #ccc; display: grid; place-items: center;\">\r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e2\" data-zoneid=\"5876678\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n  <\/div>\r\n  \r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e6\" data-zoneid=\"5876682\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n<\/div><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-right:0;padding-left:0\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The European Commission announced Friday that it was opening an antitrust probe into French pharmaceutical group Sanofi on suspicion it breached the bloc\u2019s competition rules in promoting a flu vaccine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The probe centres on how the firm marketed an enhanced flu vaccine, offered under the brand name Efluelda and designed to provide greater protection for people over 60.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The vaccine in question competes with one marketed by the Australian company CSL Seqirus under the brand name Fluad.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe commission is concerned that Sanofi pursued a misleading communication campaign to disparage Fluad by portraying it as inferior to Efluelda, going against national vaccination recommendations in several member states,\u201d a commission statement said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The EU executive, acting as the bloc\u2019s competition watchdog, said the campaign primarily targeted healthcare professionals in Germany and France, where Sanofi is considered to hold a dominant position.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sanofi had revealed last September that it was being investigated by the EU over its practices in the hugely competitive flu vaccine sector.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Contacted by AFP, the group denied breaking EU rules.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSanofi is confident that it has acted, and continues to act, in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including competition rules,\u201d a company spokeswoman said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She called the EU inquiry \u201ca procedural step\u201d that \u201cdoes not in any way prejudge the outcome of the investigation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSanofi remains committed to fair competition and to maintaining patient access to innovative vaccines,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Flu vaccines are a major business for Sanofi, whose products are widely administered as part of annual national vaccination campaigns in France in particular.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aside from CSL Seqirus, its main competitors include the US company Viatris.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the alleged anticompetitive practices are confirmed, the commission could impose a penalty on Sanofi for abuse of a dominant position, in the form of a fine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the proceedings, Sanofi could also offer commitments to address the commission\u2019s concerns.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
