height: 750px; background: #ccc; display: grid; place-items: center;\">\r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e2\" data-zoneid=\"5876678\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n  <\/div>\r\n  \r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e6\" data-zoneid=\"5876682\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n<\/div><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-right:0;padding-left:0\">\n<p>Oil prices fell Monday on optimism over US-Iran peace talks, with mediators flagging a \u201croadmap\u201d to a final agreement, while most equities rose thanks to another healthy start for tech firms.<\/p>\n<p>After a meeting planned for Friday was cancelled owing to fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, the negotiations finally got underway on Sunday in Switzerland with teams led by US Vice President JD Vance and Iran\u2019s Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.<\/p>\n<p>Traders remain in buoyant mood after news that the two foes had ended their conflict, which had sent energy costs soaring and stoking inflation, sending shivers through the global economy.<\/p>\n<p>There were initial jitters following reports that Iran had called off the talks over US President Donald Trump\u2019s threat to carry out more strikes if Hezbollah kept attacking Israel, but mediators Pakistan and Qatar said the talks took place in \u201ca positive and constructive atmosphere\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The mood improved as Qatar and Pakistan announced progress, which aim to address Tehran\u2019s nuclear programme and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of oil and gas pass.<\/p>\n<p>The two said the United States and Iran agreed to set up a \u201ccommunication line\u201d to avoid incidents in the crucial waterway, and \u201cthe High Level Committee has agreed upon a roadmap towards reaching a final deal within 60 days, laying the foundation for the immediate commencement of further technical talks\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi added on X that \u201cmediation has delivered major progress to end Lebanon War\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Both main oil contracts fell in early trade, while most stock markets advanced.<\/p>\n<p>Tokyo climbed two percent, Seoul was up more than one percent and Taipei jumped 2.7 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The gains came on the back of another rally in tech firms, particularly chipmakers including South Korea\u2019s SK hynix, Taiwan\u2019s TSMC and Japan\u2019s Advantest.<\/p>\n<p>Sydney, Wellington and Jakarta also advanced, though there were losses in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing the positive response last week to reports of a US-Iran ceasefire, markets are likely to open with a cautious tone to start the new week as it remains clear that the situation in the Middle East remains fragile,\u201d said National Australia Bank\u2019s Skye Masters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe dollar is likely to remain supported, the oil price could swing either way but at current levels the risk is for a lift higher.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sterling remained under pressure after suffering selling following Thursday\u2019s election of UK Labour politician Andy Burnham that ramped up expectations he will oust beleaguered Prime Minister Keir Starmer.<\/p>\n<p>The embattled premier \u201cis expected to announce on Monday that he will step down as prime minister after overwhelming pressure from Labour MPs to make way for\u00a0Andy Burnham\u201d, Britain\u2019s Guardian newspaper said.<\/p>\n<p>Investors were nervous that Burnham could introduce fresh spending plans that would add to the country\u2019s already huge debt pile.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Key figures around 0230 GMT \u2013<\/p>\n<p>West Texas Intermediate: DOWN 0.5 percent at $75.47 a barrel<\/p>\n<p>Brent North Sea Crude: DOWN 1.5 percent at $79.38 a barrel<\/p>\n<p>Tokyo \u2013 Nikkei 225: UP 2.0 percent at 72,648.47 (break)<\/p>\n<p>Hong Kong \u2013 Hang Seng Index: DOWN 1.4 percent at 23,597.25<\/p>\n<p>Shanghai \u2013 Composite: DOWN 0.1 percent at 4,088.17<\/p>\n<p>Seoul \u2013 Kospi: UP 1.3 percent at 9,171.14<\/p>\n<p>Euro\/dollar: DOWN at $1.1462 from $1.1464 on Friday<\/p>\n<p>Pound\/dollar: UP at $1.3220 from $1.3218<\/p>\n<p>Dollar\/yen: UP at 161.54 yen from 161.27 yen<\/p>\n<p>Euro\/pound: DOWN\u00a0at 86.71 pence from 86.73 pence<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
