height: 750px; background: #ccc; display: grid; place-items: center;\">\r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e2\" data-zoneid=\"5876678\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n  <\/div>\r\n  \r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e6\" data-zoneid=\"5876682\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n<\/div><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-right:0;padding-left:0\">\n<p>King Charles III will reveal his personal tax bill in a bid to improve transparency, Buckingham Palace confirmed to AFP on Sunday, as royal finances come under increasing public scrutiny in Britain.<\/p>\n<p>British monarchs are legally exempt from paying certain taxes, though they have paid some duties voluntarily for decades.<\/p>\n<p>They also have no obligation to disclose their private tax bills, but recent scandals surrounding the disgraced former prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor have thrust the royal family\u2019s finances into the spotlight.<\/p>\n<p>Charles began releasing his personal tax information when he was heir to the throne, but will become the first monarch to disclose it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe decision to do so as Sovereign has come at the express wish of the King himself,\u201d a palace spokesperson said in a statement released late Saturday to a limited number of British media outlets.<\/p>\n<p>It added that the move was \u201cpart of the adaptations carried across\u201d since Charles acceded to the throne in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur aim is to explain all elements of royal finances in a way that further enhances clarity and accessibility, while also placing it in its historical and constitutional context.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo put it simply: we continue to modernise and evolve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Charles\u2019s tax information will be shared on Thursday as part of the release of annual royal financial accounts, the BBC reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Varied income \u2013<\/p>\n<p>The head of the royal family gets money from various sources, including the publicly-funded Sovereign Grant as well as private duchy income worth tens of millions of pounds more.<\/p>\n<p>The grant \u2014 an annual government payment to cover the costs of official duties by working royals \u2014 has increased markedly in 2025-2026, to \u00a3132.1 million ($175 million), compared with \u00a386.3 million the prior financial year.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Charles received\u00a0\u00a326.8 million in private income from the Duchy of Lancaster in 2024\u201325.<\/p>\n<p>Profits from the historic duchy \u2014 a large, diversified portfolio of land, property, and investments managed like a modern business \u2014 funds personal expenses and some official duties.<\/p>\n<p>It is the main source of private income for the head of the monarchy, with the heir \u2014 currently Charles\u2019s eldest son William, Prince of Wales \u2014 benefiting from a similar arrangement with his Duchy of Cornwall.<\/p>\n<p>Under UK law, monarchs do not have to pay income, capital gains or inheritance taxes.<\/p>\n<p>However, since 1993 they have voluntarily paid the first two, following public pressure and scrutiny of royal finances, including questions over who would pay for repairs following a fire at Windsor Castle.<\/p>\n<p>Like his father, William voluntarily pays income and capital gains taxes on his duchy\u2019s profits.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Image repair \u2013<\/p>\n<p>The upcoming tax disclosures will illuminate Charles\u2019s other personal income.<\/p>\n<p>The king owns both Balmoral and Sandringham Estates, which were inherited from his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II. They were exempt from inheritance tax under a long-standing government agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Other private sources of income could include money from investments or trading profits.<\/p>\n<p>The royal family has sought to repair its image since damaging revelations around Andrew, Charles\u2019s younger brother, and his ties to the late US sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.<\/p>\n<p>It has also emerged that the disgraced ex-prince earned a private income from subletting cottages while paying a symbolic \u201cpeppercorn rent\u201d for a mansion for more than two decades.<\/p>\n<p>The UK parliament\u2019s watchdog Public Accounts Committee has launched an inquiry\u00a0into residential property arrangements provided to royals in the wake of the revelations.<\/p>\n<p>Norman Baker, a former lawmaker and longtime critic of royal finances, told AFP earlier this year that Andrew\u2019s situation had \u201copened the door\u201d to greater scrutiny.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the end Britons are in the dark about the true cost of their monarchy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>burs-jj\/rmb<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
