after winning two games on Saturday to reach her first grass-court final.<\/p>\n<p>But a long-awaited title continued to evade the British number one, who was beaten 6-0 7-6 by Croatia&#8217;s Vekic in a turbulent final.<\/p>\n<p>Raducanu looked set to be on the receiving end of an embarrassing scoreline as Vekic took the first set without dropping a game in a little over half an hour.<\/p>\n<p>The former US Open champion looked increasingly rattled during the opening set, at one point clashing with her coaching team and urging them to be more vocal between points.<\/p>\n<p>Former British number one and BBC pundit Croft was unhappy with some of the noise between points as fans in the Andy Murray Arena tried to support Raducanu.<\/p>\n<p>Some fans, desperate to support a struggling Raducanu, cheered when Vekic served a double-fault early on, with similar reactions heard when the 29-year-old made unforced errors.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"594\" height=\"396\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/GettyImages-2281532886.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=594\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28773326\" alt=\"HSBC Championships - Day Seven\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Donna Vekic won the Queen&#8217;s final (Picture: Getty)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8216;Well\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0not sure they should be clapping the double fault,&#8217; Croft said on BBC&#8217;s coverage before adding: &#8216;That\u2019s\u00a0a bit\u00a0overenthusiastic.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>At one point in the second set a loud yell rang out in response to what looked to be a Raducanu winner but Vekic returned the ball.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;A bit of an&nbsp;overenthusiastic&nbsp;crowd member thought the point was over before it was there,&#8217; Croft said. &#8216;I\u2019m&nbsp;not sure if that came from Raducanu&#8217;s camp, I&nbsp;don\u2019t&nbsp;think so.&#8217;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"594\" height=\"396\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/GettyImages-2221173906.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=594\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28773481\" alt=\"HSBC Championships - Day Twelve\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t<\/div><figcaption>The Andy Murray Arena at Queen&#8217;s (Picture: Getty)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Fans inside the Andy Murray Arena sensed an incredible comeback when Raducanu broke the Vekic serve early in the second set.<\/p>\n<p>But Raducanu was twice broken herself when serving for the set and blew a 5-2 lead to lose a tense tie-break.<\/p>\n<p>Assessing Raducanu&#8217;s Queen&#8217;s campaign as a whole, Croft said: &#8216;Emma should be extremely proud of what she has turned around in her season here at the Queen&#8217;s Club this week.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The moment Donna Vekic was crowned the champion of the #HSBCChampionships <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/KGy5sxK6jG\">pic.twitter.com\/KGy5sxK6jG<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; You played really well so all the best.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Vekic, a former Wimbledon semi-finalist, lost in Queen&#8217;s qualifying but was given a &#8216;lucky loser&#8217; route into the final after Marta Kostyuk withdrew through injury.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Wow, first of all congrats Emma on such a great week,&#8217; the new Queen&#8217;s champion said. &#8216;You are such an incredible player and I wish you and your team all of the best for the remainder of the grass season.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Growing up and watching the tour I was always jealous of the boys having a chance to play at this amazing club.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I am very grateful that since last year we have had the opportunity to play here as well.
