height: 750px; background: #ccc; display: grid; place-items: center;\">\r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e2\" data-zoneid=\"5876678\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n  <\/div>\r\n  \r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e6\" data-zoneid=\"5876682\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n<\/div><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Olympic freestyle skiing star Eileen Gu\u2019s family home in San Francisco\u2019s wealthy Sea Cliff neighborhood is drawing fresh scrutiny after a large pile of discarded furniture and household items triggered complaints from nearby residents.<\/p>\n<p>The debris-covered sidewalk outside the family\u2019s 25th Avenue property on Tuesday reportedly featured a couch, mattress, broken furniture, clothing, books, medication bottles and other household belongings. <\/p>\n<p>The pile was so extensive that it obscured a fire hydrant from view.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Gold medalist Eileen Gu Ailing of Team China celebrates during the medal ceremony. <span class=\"credit\">Xinhua News Agency\/Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A complaint was submitted through the city\u2019s 311 system Monday evening.<\/p>\n<p>The next morning, a Recology worker arrived to inspect the scene but reportedly found no scheduled pickup.<\/p>\n<p>After receiving no answer at the front door, the worker initially declined to remove the items.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Neighbor Ira Glick, a Stanford academic, told The San Francisco Standard he tried contacting the Gu family after learning no one had responded.<\/p>\n<p>Eileen Gu\u2019s mother, Yan Gu, disputed the impression that the family had simply dumped the items at the curb.<\/p>\n<p>She told the SF Standard she moved the belongings outside around 1 a.m. and had carefully packed them into roughly 20 boxes, covering them in case it rained.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Houses in the Sea Cliff neighborhood of San Francisco, California. <span class=\"credit\">Bloomberg via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Yan Gu said she was shocked to discover the contents scattered across the sidewalk and blamed either scavengers or what she called \u201cvicious people\u201d for tearing through the pile.<\/p>\n<p>She also claimed someone pulled out a shirt bearing her daughter\u2019s name, which she viewed as a deliberate act.<\/p>\n<p>According to Yan Gu, a truck was already on its way Tuesday afternoon to remove the items.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"> <span class=\"credit\">Xinhua News Agency\/Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The incident unfolded against the backdrop of ongoing tensions between the family and some neighbors.<\/p>\n<p>Glick said the Gu family had recently hired a gardener and had also been involved in a dispute with another resident over property boundaries.<\/p>\n<p>Another neighbor told the SF Standard he had not spoken with the family in four or five years following a disagreement over a newly installed driveway.<\/p>\n<p>Yan Gu, meanwhile, accused that neighbor of maintaining reflective spinning weather vanes that cast light into her home \u201clike a disco ball,\u201d forcing the family to keep curtains closed.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Gu ]competes during the qualification of Women\u2019s Freeski Big Air qualification run of Freestyle Skiing event. <span class=\"credit\">Xinhua News Agency\/Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>City records show the Gu\u2019s property has faced multiple complaints over the years.<\/p>\n<p>An April 28 complaint alleged the home suffered from neglect, overgrown vegetation and trash issues that attracted rodents and birds, though a city inspector found no housing-code violations the following day.<\/p>\n<p>The property was also the subject of sewage-related complaints in January 2024.
