Despite the uneven concrete roadway and a pair of curves \u2013 one bending slightly left, followed by one veering right \u2013 Shirilla somehow maintained control.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The Camry launched through a stop sign and barreled into the sprawling brick headquarters of The Pipe Line Development Company, or PLIDCO.\u00a0 <span class=\"credit\">City of Strongsville<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Mackenzie Shirilla holding a lit cigarette in her mouth. <span class=\"credit\">City of Strongsville<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Once through the bends, the vehicle was only yards away from the T-shaped intersection of Progress and Alameda drives.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But Shirilla never hit the brakes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Instead, the Camry launched through a stop sign and barreled into the sprawling brick headquarters of a local business, The Pipe Line Development Company, or PLIDCO.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rather than striking the building head-on, the car veered slightly right, and slammed passenger-side first into a smaller building that juts out from the main structure.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Russo, 20, and Flanagan, 19, died at the scene.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Shirilla \u2013 who was found crumpled inside the wreckage \u2013 was airlifted to a hospital and treated for injuries to her arm and leg.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nearly four years later, little remains to suggest that one of Ohio\u2019s most notorious car crashes unfolded there.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The Plidco company building where Mackenzie Shirilla crashed her vehicle into a brick wall. <span class=\"credit\">Matt Symons For NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The grounds are immaculately groomed.<\/p>\n<p>A section of darker red brick appears to mark where repairs were made to the impacted portion of the building.<\/p>\n<p>Several boulders, additional trees and the company\u2019s pristine new sign also adorn the lawn.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Evidence recovered from the destroyed Toyota\u2019s Event Data Recorder, or \u201cblack box,\u201d showed Shirilla never applied the service brake before impact.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Shirilla, who only had THC in her system at the time of the wreck, was sentenced to two concurrent terms of 15 years to life in prison, after a judge found her guilty of double murder during a dramatic bench trial in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>She is appealing her conviction for a second time, with her lawyers arguing recently that the killer may have \u201csuffered from a pre-existing medical condition that could have caused her to black out while driving.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
