height: 750px; background: #ccc; display: grid; place-items: center;\">\r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e2\" data-zoneid=\"5876678\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n  <\/div>\r\n  \r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e6\" data-zoneid=\"5876682\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n<\/div><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Texas teen Karmelo Anthony appeared \u201cdistraught\u201d in the moments after he allegedly fatally stabbed Austin Metcalf, another student testified Monday at his murder trial.<\/p>\n<p>A 17-year-old teammate of Anthony described the \u201cchaos\u201d that ensued at a track and field meet in Frisco on April 2, 2025 after Anthony and Metcalf got into a dispute over seating \u2014 allegedly resulting in Anthony stabbing Metcalf to death.<\/p>\n<p>The witness \u2014 whose name was ordered to be withheld because of his age \u2014 said he saw Anthony, a Frisco Centennial High School Student, under the team tent of rival school Frisco Memorial High School when \u201cthings started to change,\u201d according to a report by local outlet NBC 5 DFW.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Karmelo Anthony was \u2018distraught\u2019 after he allegedly fatally stabbed Austin Metcalf, a witness testified. <span class=\"credit\">FOX 4 NEWS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The student \u2014 who was the first witness called by Anthony\u2019s defense team \u2014 heard \u201clouder voices than usual\u201d and that he was about to go over and see if his classmate, Anthony, needed help when he \u201csaw a push.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then \u201cit got super loud\u201d and the moment descended into \u201cchaos\u201d with Metcalf pulling up his shirt and saying he got stabbed and Anthony breaking into a \u201clight jog\u201d away from the scene, the teen testified.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Then a he saw a \u201cdistraught\u201d and crying Anthony being comforted and held by a coach, the student recalled.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony told the coach, \u201cI told him not to touch me,\u201d the witness recounted to the jury.<\/p>\n<p>The student said he didn\u2019t know if Metcalf was justified in shoving Anthony and also didn\u2019t know if Anthony was justified in knifing Metcalf.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Austin Metcalf was allegedly knifed by Anthony after he asked Anthony to leave his team\u2019s tent at a track and field meet in Frisco last year. <span class=\"credit\">x\/AMetcal<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Anthony\u2019s lawyers have claimed Anthony stabbed Metcalf in self-defense and that Metcalf started the confrontation. <\/p>\n<p>Jurors have heard from witnesses that Metcalf asked Anthony to move out from under his team\u2019s tent that was set up on the bleachers of the Kuykendall Stadium, but that Anthony refused to move despite numerous requests by Metcalf and other students.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Here\u2019s the latest on Karmelo Anthony\u2019s murder trial following the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf<\/h2>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<p>Anthony allegedly said \u201ctouch me and find out\u201d as he had his hand inside his backpack on his lap, suggesting he might pull something out, other students previously testified.<\/p>\n<p>Then at some point Metcalf shoved Anthony who pulled a semi-serrated folding knife out of the bag and plunged it once inside Metcalf\u2019s chest, causing him to bleed out and die on April 2, 2025.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Anthony was asked by several students to leave his rival school\u2019s team tent but refused, other students testified. <span class=\"credit\">Fox4<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>During opening statements Anthony\u2019s lawyer, Mike Howard, portrayed Metcalf as towering over a much smaller and seated Anthony \u2014 claiming the victim provoked the fight. Anthony had merely been seeking shelter from the rain because his team didn\u2019t have a tent, Howard claimed.<\/p>\n<p>Howard said Anthony didn\u2019t try to stab anyone else, dropped the knife and immediately admitted what he did because it was all in self-defense.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony, now 19, has pleaded not guilty.
