He\u2019s just going to get better and better.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>A year before Wu\u2019s Sheffield triumph Zhao Xintong became China\u2019s first world champion, another player O\u2019Sullivan has done some work with on the practice table in the past<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Zhao Xintong is an amazing player, he\u2019s always been my favourite player out of all the Chinese players, this kid is very, very special,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018To see him win a World Championship last year was fantastic, to see Wu Yize win the World Championship this year is great. We\u2019ve got two young great Chinese players having this rivalry and there\u2019s many more young Chinese players coming through.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018When I see great talent and they don\u2019t win the tournaments I think they should win, that\u2019s why I like to speak to them. You can try this, try that, it will help you become a winner. I didn\u2019t want to see this great talent not witnessed by the whole world. I didn\u2019t tell them much, maybe just a little bit, but sometimes just a little bit is all you need.\u2019<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/GettyImages-2267679931.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28685544\" alt=\"World Open Snooker 2026 - Day 6\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>O\u2019Sullivan beat Wu when they met at the World Open in March (Picture: Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>O\u2019Sullivan has been in China this month playingChinese 8-ball pool, losing in the last 32 of the Huacai Billiards World Open in Deqing.<\/p>\n<p>The cue sport variant is very popular in China and the big tournaments provide massive top prizes, with the winner in Deqing claiming $735,000 (\u00a3550,000).<\/p>\n<p>The 50-year-old is dabbling with Chinese 8-ball at the moment, but says he could quit snooker and take it up full time in the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018At the moment I\u2019m still playing snooker, I\u2019m enjoying my snooker,\u2019 he said. \u2018So I\u2019ll do maybe three or four years of that and then maybe when I\u2019m 54-55, maybe a little bit too old to play snooker, I can come over here, play some Chinese pool, have some fun, relax. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018That was my thinking, something I can do full time in four or five years\u2019 time.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x\"\/>\n<p>He said of trying to juggle two different disciplines: \u2018You can\u2019t play snooker and try and play pool. Impossible. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018If I decide to play pool full-time, I\u2019d never play snooker again. You can\u2019t do both, you can only be very good at one. At the moment I\u2019m just coming to see what it\u2019s like.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Tournament\u2019s great, the sponsor\u2019s good, the players are great, the environment\u2019s great, okay great. It\u2019s something to look forward to in three or four years\u2019 time.
