And the suspect, a registered sex offender, shouldn\u2019t have been using it.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"\/>\n<p>Roblox says its platform does not include any kind of voice modulation, but the case is part of the state\u2019s lawsuit against the game company.<\/p>\n<p>A statewide crackdown on child sex predators led to the arrest and highlights a disturbing national trend,\u00a0Louisiana\u00a0Attorney General Liz Murrill told Fox News Digital last weekend at CrimeCon Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not a victimless crime,\u201d she said. \u201cThere are children who are being victimized to produce pornography that\u2019s being traded, and there are children who are getting raped and hurt in a number of ways.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Deputies in Livingston Parish, Las Vegas, busted a sex offender using voice-changing tech on Roblox. <span class=\"credit\">AFP via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She described cases where children are lured from their homes hundreds or thousands of miles away before they are rescued.<\/p>\n<p>Murrill said Louisiana is on track to receive 90,000 tips about online child exploitation this year alone, with 30,000 already processed by the end of May. And police across the state have made hundreds of arrests.<\/p>\n<p>In many cases, the parents are blindsided and don\u2019t know what to look out for.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we all grew up, we always look for the white van, the ice cream truck, things of that nature,\u201d said Ard, who was also at CrimeCon, where the\u00a0attorney general\u00a0joined former \u201cTo Catch a Predator\u201d host Chris Hansen for a panel on fighting child sex crimes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow we have this internet-based platform,\u201d Ard continued. \u201cThat device that we now have in our hands that we give in our children is the white van, right? That is the white van. It is now at your dinner table. It\u2019s now in your bedroom.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Roblox faces lawsuits, including one from Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill, but claims extensive safety measures are in place. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Louisiana crackdown has targeted known, registered sex offenders \u2014 predators who aren\u2019t allowed to be using social media or\u00a0gaming apps, authorities said. But they make their way online anyway, because that\u2019s where the victims are.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese big companies, like Roblox, they\u2019re not doing anything about it,\u201d Ard said. \u201cSo we have to take the initiative to do what we can to stop this<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Roblox is not the only app that authorities allege predators are using to harm children; however, it is wildly popular among kids and teens.<\/p>\n<p>The company has also been named in several lawsuits \u2014 including\u00a0one Murrill herself filed last summer\u00a0\u2014 which allege that the platform is an environment where predators can target vulnerable children.<\/p>\n<p>Roblox disputed the characterization of its platform as unsafe, telling Fox News Digital that the allegations \u201cfundamentally misrepresent how our platform works and fail to take into account the extensive, proactive measures we are pioneering and implementing to set a new standard in online safety.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Roblox CEO David Baszucki told FOX Business the company had\u00a0implemented more than 100 new safety\u00a0features to protect its users \u2014 about 40% of whom are under age 13.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Attorney general\u00a0Liz Murrill joined former \u201cTo Catch a Predator\u201d host Chris Hansen (pictured) for a panel on fighting child sex crimes. <span class=\"credit\">WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cVideo and image sharing between users has always been prohibited on Roblox,\u201d a spokesperson said Wednesday. \u201cRoblox\u2019s technology makes it impossible for users to share images or videos in chat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The company also relies on a blend of AI-powered detection and human moderators to prevent users from exchanging personal information, and the spokesperson said Roblox cooperates with law enforcement around the country and the National Center for Missing &amp; Exploited Children (NCMEC).<\/p>\n<p>Roblox chats are unencrypted and monitored around the clock, according to the spokesperson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarlier this year, Roblox became the first online gaming platform to\u00a0require age checks for all users\u00a0to access chat features so that younger users are limited to chatting only with peers by default,\u201d the spokesperson said. \u201cChat is disabled by default for users under nine.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
