Atchison Street, at Chapman University, and offers visitors the chance to see more than 5,000 oils, illustrations, watercolors, drawings, and movie production art.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The Hilbert Museum in located in Orange at Chapman University. <span class=\"credit\">Hilbert Museum of California<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The striking two-story building opened in 2016 and features 26 galleries showcasing rotating collections from the growing Hilbert collection,\u201d thanks to the funding from co-founders Mark and Janet Hilbert, the website read.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors can experience the Golden State history from the late 1800s all the way to today, including the stunning paintings of the state showcasing our unique coastal views, farms, ranches, and landscapes to Hollywood studio artists and animators.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>It offers visitors the chance to see more than 5,000 oils illustrations, watercolors, drawings, movie production art and more. <span class=\"credit\">Instagram\/@hilbertmuseum<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Its vast collection stretches across more than 22,000 square feet of gallery space, showcasing \u201cone of the largest private collections of Disney art,\u201d along with works by Norman Rockwell and other 20th Century illustrators, according to the website.<\/p>\n<p>Current exhibitions include Disney-Pixar animator J\u00f8rgen Klubien from Denmark, who was part of Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios during a huge part of its history.<\/p>\n<p>After moving to the US in the 1980\u2019s, Klubien\u2019s work helped shape some of the greatest Disney and Pixar movies ever made.<\/p>\n<p>The list includes such movies as \u201cThe Little Mermaid,\u201d \u201cThe Lion King,\u201d \u201cThe Nightmare Before Christmas,\u201d \u201cToy Story 2,\u201d \u201cMonsters \u201cInc.\u201d he\u2019s even credited as a co-creator and screenwriter for the massive hit \u201cCars,\u201d per the website.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Visitors can experience the Golden State history from the late 1800s to today. <span class=\"credit\">Hilbert Museum of California<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>There\u2019s also rotating collections featuring artists like Rockwell, Millard Sheets, Mary Blair, Rex Brandt, Ralph Allen Massey, and so much more.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Current exhibitions include Disney-Pixar animator J\u00f8rgen Klubien from Denmark. <span class=\"credit\">Hilbert Museum of California<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In 2024, the museum reopened to the public with the space expanding from 7,500 to its current 22,000 sq foot building after undergoing a three-year long project.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The Lucas Museum opens on Sept. 22, 2026. <span class=\"credit\">Los Angeles Times via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>And all this wonderful art is free to the public. Visitors are encouraged to use their online reservation page before going to the museum.<\/p>\n<p>It is opened to the public Wednesday-Sunday from 10 a.m. \u2013 5 p.m. with free parking.
