The away shirts of all the teams wearing adidas have a retro feel that goes beyond the trefoil \u2013 Belgium and Spain are also in good hands \u2013 but but only Curacao boast this knockout soft yellow number. GB.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2) South Korea away<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"338\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-29f7.png?w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28649332\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>South Korea\u2019s away kit is an interesting shade (Picture: Nike)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Traditionalists might wince at the idea of a football kit that\u2019s a lavender-tinted floral print. But there\u2019s something rather attractive about this. Especially if you\u2019re a bee. UK-based South Koreans may well find that the glow-in-the-dark badge on this away kit comes in handy. What with all three of the Taegeuk Warriors\u2019 qualifiers taking place in the wee small hours of the morning (GMT). Which is good news if you\u2019re a moth. SC<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3) Ghana home<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"303\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-72bb.png?w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28649552\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Ghana\u2019s home kit features a black star (Picture: Puma)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Amidst the adidas templates and kit design groupthink it may be hard to stand out from the crowd this summer but Ghana manage it with a bang. White shirt, big black star on the breastbone, backed by a multi-coloured spider\u2019s web design which suggests one of Asamoah Gyan\u2019s children got busy with the crayons. Bold and beautiful. GB<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4) Bosnia-Herzegovina home<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-43cd.png?w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28649591\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Bosnia-Herzegovina\u2019s manufactured by Kelme (Picture: Footyheadlines)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>More teams at the World Cup means a greater variety of kit manufacturers, which is mostly a good thing. This one is made by Kelme, which conjurs images of brash and baggy mid 90s LaLiga gear. But it\u2019s no retro retread. The smart navy blue number with subtle yellow and white pinstripes, and a gorgeous font for the yellow numbers is all very sleek. The away strip is great too. GB<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5) France away<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"298\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-de5e.png?w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28649601\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>France\u2019s kits never disappoint (Picture: Footyheadlines)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The French are, of course, snappy dressers. So it shouldn\u2019t come as a huge shock to discover that their apparel for the summer is absolument parfait. The home strip is classic French dark bleu. And the away? Nike call the hue \u2018Igloo\u2019, but this isn\u2019t a nod to Pingu \u2013 it\u2019s a flirtatious wink at the Statue of Liberty. And a sly reference to the colour of their generous 1886 gift to the USA. \u201cOoooh, America \u2013 remember that massive and expensive present we got you that time?\u201d Shameless toadying to the co-hosts. Merde! SC<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6) Mexico third<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"368\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-b1e6.png?w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28649668\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Mexico have brought a third kit to the World Cup (Picture: adidas)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Who needs a third kit at a World Cup? Well, no one really, but if it\u2019s as tremendous as this we can to make an exception. On the face of it the black base doesn\u2019t scream at you but it helps accentuate the oversized national crest, the trefoil and the three stripes, all of which are shaded in the green, white and red of the Mexican flag. GB<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7) Belgium away<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"379\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-6310.png?w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28650670\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>There\u2019s lot going on with Belgium\u2019s away kit (Picture Footyheadlines)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We all know international shirts don\u2019t carry sponsors, even if World Cups are stuffed with corporate deals. Our legal team would therefore like to make it crystal clear that the Belgian FA did not commission the company behind Millions sweets to design this away kit. That doesn\u2019t stop its distinctive pink-and-blue colour scheme making you fancy a trip to the corner shop, mind. In reality, the inspiration here is Ren\u00e9 Magritte\u2019s 1928 surrealist artwork La Voix des Airs. Goldsmiths alumni may already have clocked that. Classy. SC<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8) Germany home<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"339\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-5919.png?w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28649370\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Classic adidas style from Germany (Picture: Footyheadlines)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The latest and last in a 40+ year association with adidas, Germany\u2019s kit, with the colours of the national flag across the chest bears unmistakeable and deliberate resemblance to the classic worn by the 1990 winners. The blurb also claims to be inspired by the shirt from the 2010 champions but the diamonds in the middle also spark memories of 1994 \u2013 the last World Cup in the USA \u2013 when Berti Vogts\u2019 men were shocked by Bulgaria in the quarter-finals. GB<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9) South Africa away<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"319\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-65c1.png?w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28650789\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>A lovely shade of green from Bafana Bafana (Picture: adidas)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Bafana x2 have quietly produced one of the tournament\u2019s classiest strips. Their forest green and gold away kit pairs a classy Adidas trefoil with vertical stripes made up of hand-drawn geometric patterns, while the Protea emblem gives it a distinctly South African flavour. Sadly, FIFA\u2019s strict kit regulations have conspired against it. With no kit clashes expected in the group stage, this little collared beauty is unlikely to make it out of the kit man\u2019s checked luggage, save for an unlikely run deep into the competition. What a waste. SC<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">THE BAD<\/h2>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10) USA home<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"388\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-d96e.png?w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28650792\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Not many stars but plenty of stripes on show (Picture: Footyheadlines)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>World Cup \u201894 in the US is remembered for two iconic penalty misses: Roberto Baggio\u2019s crucial shootout spoon in the final and Diana Ross\u2019 toe punt shank in the opening ceremony. The USMNT\u2019s stars and stripes kits from that tournament are being echoed here 32 years later. This time the wavy flag stripes on the home kit are horizontal, as they should be. Sadly, however, this time around there won\u2019t be a giant, mad, long-haired, bearded ginger Viking of a centre back inside one of them. SC<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">11) Panama away<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"438\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-92b4.png?w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28650815\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>No mistaking who will be wearing this kit (Picture: Footyheadlines)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Panama will be the first team to wear Reebok at a World Cup since 1998, so it\u2019s fitting that their minimalist white away strip with neat black and red piping on the V-neck collar and centred badge and logo resembles something John McGinlay or Owen Coyle might have worn for Bolton Wanderers back in the day. No nonsense. GB<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">12) Turkey away<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"403\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-48b3.png?w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28650831\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Not much thought has gone into Turkey\u2019s away kit (Picture: Nike)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This bland also-ran of a shirt is so nondescript compared to most of its World Cup stablemates it\u2019s the sartorial equivalent of a suburban Superdry dad from Clapham going on a night out with a group of Congolese sapeur dandies. This generic, off-the-rack design is so forgettable it\u2019s hard to recall what it looks like even while you\u2019re looking at it. Worse, it\u2019s fundamentally flawed. Just look how crammed together the number, Nike swoosh and flag are. And why is that mostly red crescent-and-star flag mounted on a similarly red banner? It practically disappears. There\u2019s no Turkish delight here. SC<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">13) Egypt away<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"412\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-7d49.png?w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28650836\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Not a lot going on here with Egypt\u2019s away kit (Picture: Puma)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Alright, maybe this pick is a tad harsh. In and of itself, there\u2019s nothing really to dislike about the Pharoahs\u2019 changed strip. Then again, there\u2019s very little to enjoy. The deep red home kit already has pyramid motifs emblazoned on it. C\u2019mon, Egypt, did you have to go for more polyhedrons? Look, we know The Great Pyramids are incredible and you\u2019re right to be proud of them. But you could\u2019ve featured a subtle Sphinx in the design instead. Or King Tutankhamun. Or Omar Sharif riding a camel. Use your imaginations. SC<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">14) England home<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"506\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-801a.png?w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28650847\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Simple stuff here from Nike with England\u2019s kit (Picture: Nike)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It\u2019s fine, but Nike\u2019s latest effort for the Three Lions hints at the retro boom without quite having the conviction to go all in. The result is something that looks like it may have been designed by a committee then run through ChatGPT for good measure. If football is coming home, it deserves to be better dressed than this. That said, if football does come home, this shirt will be instantly iconic, of course. GB<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">15) Canada home<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"359\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-c0cd.png?w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28650866\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>If you like plain red kits this one is for you (Picture: Footyheadlines)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Oh, Canada. Your ice hockey shirts are iconic, your cycling jerseys always deliver. Really, with that big maple leaf you shouldn\u2019t be able to go wrong. And yet here we are. On the biggest stage, as co-hosts of the World Cup for the first and likely only time, an all-red shirt in which said maple leaf is a mere silhouette just doesn\u2019t deliver enough punch. GB<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">16) Australia away<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"390\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-5f36.png?w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28650872\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Not a lot going for this one (Picture: Nike)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Where did they find this? The blurb says the colours evoke the intense sunrises seen in the outback, but I\u2019m just seeing a turquoise shirt with some orange sprayed over the shoulders. Could potentially put off some tourists. GB<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">17) Switzerland away<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"338\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-63f4.png?w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28650873\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Switzerland\u2019s away kit could easily be one for their goalkeeper (Picture: Puma)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Credit (Suisse) to them, the good folk of Switzerland are responsible for some pretty snazzy inventions, innovations and exports. We can thank them for Velcro, tin foil, CERN, fondue, muesli, LSD and large wooden clocks with spring-loaded wooden birds that jump out and shout at everyone. Muddying that record somewhat is this World Cup\u2019s insult to vision itself. A lime green kit is pushing your luck. But a _slime _green one? That\u2019s shoving your luck into Lake Geneva and holding its head under the water until it finally relents and accepts its fate. SC<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">18) Haiti home<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"394\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-47c5.png?w=646\" class=\"article-image wp-image-28650880\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Haiti\u2019s kit has got an early Pro Evo look to it (Picture: Footyheadlines)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Kudos to Haiti here for trying to celebrate their history, culture and national identity on their kits. The trouble is, they\u2019ve attempted to do all three at once. It\u2019s a small wonder they haven\u2019t also squeezed in a few volcanos, some palm trees, a local restaurant recommendation and a picture of Wyclef Jean\u2019s face. It\u2019s all a bit busy and veers dangerously close to looking rather like the opening slide of a Year 8 geography presentation about the Caribbean nation.
