He injured nine others, including a 12-year-old girl, who required surgery.<\/p>\n<p>Schwally told police that he consumed 18 bottles of beer \u2014 but was actually more tanked on Long Island iced tea liquor he bought earlier that morning at a liquor store in the same strip mall containing the nail salon. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Two empty pints and one full bottle of Long Island iced tea were found in his vehicle, and another empty bottle was found in his hotel room at the Commack Motor Inn, where he was living at the time.<\/p>\n<p>The boozed-up bum had a recorded\u00a0blood alcohol volume of .17%, more than double the legal limit, at the time of the deadly crash, according to prosecutors. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Emilia Rennhack, 30, of Deer Park, Long Island was killed in the crash. <span class=\"credit\">NYC PBA \/ Facebook<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cCustomers and workers went into a nail salon on an ordinary Friday June afternoon and four of them never came home, because Steven Schwally made the selfish choice to drink and drive,\u201d Suffolk District Attorney Raymond Tierney said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDrunken driving is not an accident, it is a deadly serious crime,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>Schwally faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life on the top charge alone. He was also convicted manslaughter, aggravated vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, reckless driving and several misdemeanors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re very thankful for the jury\u2019s verdict today,\u201d said Chief Suffolk Assistant District Attorney Allen Bode.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey ratified the fact that this was not an accident, this was a crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schwally has not attended his trial since he suffered a heart attack in jail on May 21.<\/p>\n<p>However, Bode said that now convicted killer \u201cneeds to hear what these families\u201d of the victims have to say during his sentencing, and accommodations will be made if necessary, according to Newsday.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Schwally plowed into Hawaii Nail Salon &amp; Spa in Deer Park, Long Island at nearly 80 mph. <span class=\"credit\">instagram\/hawaii_nail_spa<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Schwally\u2019s lawyer Christopher Cassar said his client lost control of his vehicle because he has a leg disability and could not move his foot from the gas pedal. He claimed he did not slur his words nor stumble when he exited the vehicle at the crash.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn this particular case, the video demonstrates that Schwally attempted to swerve to avoid other vehicles and lost control of the vehicle, so we\u2019re confident that, based on the murder counts, that the court of appeals will look at it and overturn it,\u201d Cassar said.<\/p>\n<p>Court documents refute the attorney\u2019s claims.<\/p>\n<p>Before ramming into the nail salon, Schwally swerved around cars, into pedestrian zones, nearly missing two women walking in front of a Kohl\u2019s located on Commack Road, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Surveillance footage of the accident showed the killer\u2019s car launch into the storefront. <span class=\"credit\">instagram\/hawaii_nail_spa<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>His erratic driving escalated as he sped southbound through the parking lot, when he dodged a car making a left-hand turn, veered into the opposite lane of oncoming traffic to avoid a second car on the shoulder, and sped through four stop signs and five crosswalks.<\/p>\n<p>The chaotic sequence culminated when Schwally approached a red light at the end of the parking lot. Instead of stopping behind a waiting vehicle, he crossed into the opposite northbound lane to bypass the traffic and blew the red light at the intersection of Grand Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p>Hitting 78 mph, his SUV went airborne, careened across Grand Boulevard, plowed through a strip mall parking sign, and crashed entirely through the front of the nail salon.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of his arrest, \u201cSchwally was observed to be intoxicated, having an odor of alcohol<br \/>on his breath, slurred speech, bloodshot\/watery eyes, and he appeared agitated at times,\u201d according to the DA.<\/p>\n<p>When first responders arrived, Schwally reportedly yelled, \u201cGet me out of here\u2026 I\u2019m a Marine!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
