height: 750px; background: #ccc; display: grid; place-items: center;\">\r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e2\" data-zoneid=\"5876678\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n  <\/div>\r\n  \r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e6\" data-zoneid=\"5876682\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n<\/div><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A\u00a0young beautician was gunned down by her ex-husband in an apparent murder-suicide amid a bitter custody battle over their young children, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>Meridian Thomas Woodson, a 28-year-old mom who also had 23 siblings, was found dead inside her apartment in Elmwood, Louisiana, on Thursday by police who were \u201ccalled to a disturbance,\u201d according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>Officers then found the \u201csuspect vehicle\u201d in a nearby parking lot \u2014 where the slain mom\u2019s musclebound ex-husband, Kody Woodson, 30, was \u201csuffering from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound,\u201d the sheriff said.<\/p>\n<p>He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died of his injuries.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Louisiana beautician Meridian Thomas Woodson was found shot dead in her apartment. <span class=\"credit\">Meridian Thomas Woodson \/ Facebook<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The pair had been fighting over custody of their kids \u2014 Paisley, 4, and Lileigh, 7 \u2014 and were scheduled to attend a hearing on June 18, according to court records\u00a0obtained by WDSU.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>The former husband and wife had been engaged in a years-long legal battle, and Meridian had previously accused Kody of abusing her and threatening her with a gun, records show.<\/p>\n<p>Meridian claimed that Kody had physically attacked her after she told him she wanted a divorce in January 2024, court records show.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Her ex-husband, Kody Woodson, was discovered in an adjacent parking lot with gunshot wounds. <span class=\"credit\">Meridian Thomas Woodson \/ Facebook<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A few weeks later, he reportedly \u201cgrabbed her phone from her hand [and] grabbed her by the arm and threw her to the ground,\u201d after flying into a \u201cjealous rage,\u201d Meridian wrote in her divorce petition.<\/p>\n<p>In a separate incident, Meridian claimed she heard \u201cthe distinctive sound of a gun being cocked,\u201d before finding Kody with a gun inside the apartment, records show.<\/p>\n<p>Kody reportedly told Meridian, \u201cYou\u2019re making me hurt you, you always make me hurt you,\u201d during a separate argument, according to the filing.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>A GoFundMe has been set up to support Meridian\u2019s two young children. <span class=\"credit\">Meridian Thomas Woodson \/ Facebook<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The former husband denied many of the allegations and accused Meridian of violent behavior in his own court filing.<\/p>\n<p>He said Meridian had a history of \u201cchoking, slapping, scratching, [and] biting\u201d him in his answer and counterclaim.<\/p>\n<p>Kody referenced an incident on Feb. 27, 2024, when Meridian was arrested over a violent argument in front of their two children.<\/p>\n<p>Meridian claimed she was acting in self-defense and said Kody\u2019s evidence to the police was taken out of context, her court filing shows.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeridian was a light in everyone\u2019s life,\u201d an online fundraiser reads, adding that she was \u201ca second mom to many of her 23 siblings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The investigation remains ongoing, the sheriff\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
