Jimmy Gomez admitted to having an affair with is his best buddy Eric Swalwell\u2019s former chief of staff, The Post can reveal.<\/p>\n<p>The married California Democrat had an 11-month-old child at home when he was caught in a moment of passion with Swalwell\u2019s minxy congressional aide Yardena Wolf three years ago. <\/p>\n<p>Gomez, the founder of the Dads Caucus in Congress, confessed Tuesday in a statement that he cheated on his wife after The Post\u2019s reporting on the encounter with Wolf, which kicked off a House Ethics Committee investigation, yielding fresh tips on his conduct.<\/p>\n<p>Wolf, at the time 29, and Gomez, then 48, were spotted having an intimate moment against a car outside a party at Swalwell\u2019s home north of the Capitol in the summer of 2023 \u2014 about two years into her tenure as Swalwell\u2019s top staffer.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Rep. Jimmy Gomez and wife Mary Hodge with their child in front of the US Capitol Building at night. <span class=\"credit\">Twitter\/ Jimmy Gomez<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Former congressional aide Yardena Wolf was spotted kissing Gomez in 2023, according to two eyewitnesses.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Wolf, a rising star in Democratic circles, received a glowing profile in Elle in 2024 and the same year she co-launched an artificial intelligence-powered fundraising company with Swalwell.<\/p>\n<p>She seemed to be a willing participant in the raunchy romance, but tipsters said it was nonetheless troubling, including because Gomez was married with a young son.<\/p>\n<p>Two witnesses described the encounter to The Post shortly after Swalwell resigned from Congress in April amid allegations of predatory sexual behavior.<\/p>\n<p>Gomez was among the clients of the Wolf-Swalwell AI firm, called Findraiser.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Gomez confessed to cheating on his wife Tuesday after a House Ethics Committee investigation found new information. <span class=\"credit\">Nicholas Ballasy \/ BACKGRID<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Wolf, 31, denies having a relationship with Gomez.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Sources described Gomez, now 51, as \u201ca dog,\u201d contrary to his self-promoted image as a dedicated family man and founder of the Dads Caucus to champion fatherhood  \u2014 but he denied inappropriate behavior until confessing Tuesday to \u201cpersonal mistakes outside my marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He has not publicly been accused of illegal conduct, unlike Swalwell, who was accused of raping an aide when she was too drunk to consent to sex.<\/p>\n<p>Wolf and Gomez were spotted going at it outside a party hosted by Swalwell to celebrate the start of the annual summer recess while most attendees were in Swalwell\u2019s backyard.<\/p>\n<p>The brazen encounter was seen by a group of Democratic aides waiting for their Uber and another who was smoking a cigarette.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Gomez acknowledged cheating on his wife to CNN. <span class=\"credit\">Jimmy Gomez for Congress<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Wolf, right, co-founded an AI fundraising company with Swalwell in 2024. <span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Both Gomez and Wolf vigorously denied the encounter ever occurred when contacted by The Post in April, though both acknowledged attending the party in question.<\/p>\n<p>The Post did not publish Wolf\u2019s name in its initial coverage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe and Swalwell are two peas in a pod,\u201d said a Democratic congressional aide, who personally witnessed the make-out session. \u201c\u2026 When they get caught, they gaslight the s\u2013t out of you to make you question your sanity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A different Democratic source, who also saw the incident, said Wolf\u2019s relationship with Gomez was \u201cliterally the biggest open secret in Democratic politics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Gomez] clearly already lied about this whole thing once already. Neither of them can really be trusted,\u201d this person said.<\/p>\n<p>A third Democrat, who did not personally see Gomez and Wolf in a compromising position, heard of multiple encounters from trusted colleagues.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"\/>\n<p>Other sightings of the pair were relayed to The Post but could not be confirmed with multiple independent sources or documentary evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Wolf still denies having a relationship with Gomez.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt remains not true,\u201d Wolf said in a text message.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The University of Alabama grad was once the youngest chief of staff at the Capitol at age 27. <span class=\"credit\">Facebook\/The University of Alabama National Alumni Association<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Wolf denies knowing about Swalwell\u2019s alleged misconduct before it emerged publicly.  <span class=\"credit\">Facebook\/Eden Medical Center<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>CNN, which reported Gomez\u2019s Tuesday confession, does not name the woman or women with whom he cavorted, but the context provided in the statement does not exclude Wolf. <\/p>\n<p>Gomez said \u201cmy actions were consensual in nature and haven\u2019t violated the law or House ethics rules,\u201d implying the person in question was not his direct subordinate, which is barred explicitly by congressional policies.<\/p>\n<p>Gomez\u2019s statement emerged after the Ethics Committee \u201clearned of other allegations of sexual misconduct\u201d against him, CNN reported. The panel\u2019s investigation is generally understood to involve a relationship with employees.<\/p>\n<p>A Gomez spokesman would not comment on whether the confession concerns the congressman\u2019s relationship with Wolf.<\/p>\n<p>The late-breaking scandal didn\u2019t derail Gomez\u2019s re-election bid in his deeply Democratic Los Angeles district.
