Among them is David Heath, the co-founder of Bombas, a company that sells high quality socks and underwear and donates one pair for every pair sold. Since launching in 2013, Bombas has done over $1 billion in lifetime sales and donated more than 200 million apparel items to those in need.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>My definition of the American dream is the ability to be in a place that has unlimited freedoms and [gives you] the ability to take whatever idea that you have \u2014 whether you have resources or don\u2019t have resources \u2014 and through hard work, grit and tenacity create something that can be very prosperous\u2026<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>David Heath launched Bombas in 2013.  <span class=\"credit\">AWNewYork \/ Shutterstock<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Bombas has been a huge success in term of both sales and philanthropy.  <span class=\"credit\">Bombas\/Instagram<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I think a lot of natural born entrepreneurs [are] constantly out in the world with eyes and ears open, looking at the problems in the world and saying, how can we solve this with business?<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u2026 I came across a quote that said, socks are the number one most requested clothing item in homeless shelters \u2026 I was like, wow, that\u2019s pretty sad. Here\u2019s an item of clothing that I\u2019ve never spent more than a few seconds a day thinking about. Yet, it\u2019s being perceived as a luxury item for over 600,000 people living right here in my own backyard \u2026\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>In 2015, Heath (from right), along with actress Olivia Wilde and Los Angeles Mission President Herb Smith, celebrated the company\u2019s commitment to donating one million socks. <span class=\"credit\">John Sciulli<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This was early 2011.
