height: 750px; background: #ccc; display: grid; place-items: center;\">\r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e2\" data-zoneid=\"5876678\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n  <\/div>\r\n  \r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e6\" data-zoneid=\"5876682\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n<\/div><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Los Angeles\u2019 mayoral race is hanging on a knife\u2019s edge as the three major candidates are within spitting distance of each other with less than a week to go.<\/p>\n<p>Far-left Councilwoman\u00a0Nithya Raman\u00a0and Mayor\u00a0Karen Bass\u00a0are separated by just one point, with DSA-linked Raman, who announced her late entry into the race, picking up support and now sitting at 25%, while Bass has seen slight stagnation since the previous poll at 26%, according to a new UC Berkeley\u2013Los Angeles Times poll released Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Reality TV star Spencer Pratt\u00a0is not far behind, coming in at 22% among likely voters, as the former \u201cThe Hills\u201d villain continues gaining traction after entering the race following the loss of his home in the deadly Palisades Fire.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Spencer Pratt, Mayor Karen Bass and Nithya Raman during the Los Angeles mayoral debate, May 6. <span class=\"credit\">Jon Rou\/LMU<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Both Raman and Pratt saw major momentum boosts, each jumping eight percentage points since March, while Bass remained relatively flat.<\/p>\n<p>The latest survey marked a dramatic shift in the race after earlier polling had shown the incumbent with a sizable advantage over her challengers, with analysts previously expecting her to cruise into the November runoff.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Pollsters described the contest as statistically neck-and-neck, with all three leading candidates falling within the margin of error.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Follow the latest on Spencer Pratt:<\/h2>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>DSA-backed Raman has seen a major momentum boost, jumping 8 percentage points since March. <span class=\"credit\">Jonathan Alcorn for CA Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mark DiCamillo, director of the Berkeley IGS poll, said turnout would likely determine which candidates advance.<\/p>\n<p>While Bass and Pratt both suffer from high unfavorability ratings, Raman is the only major candidate among the top three with a net-positive favorability rating.<\/p>\n<p>Bass was viewed unfavorably by 57% of likely voters, a slight increase from March. Pratt\u2019s unfavorable rating also stood at 57%, a sharp jump from 28% in the previous poll, when more than half of voters said they had no opinion of him.<\/p>\n<p>In the latest poll, 35% of likely voters viewed Bass favorably, compared with 25% for Pratt. Raman received a 40% favorable rating, while 35% viewed her unfavorably.<\/p>\n<p>Bass\u2019 campaign advisor Doug Herman told The Post: \u201cEveryone knew this would be a close race, and it shows Karen Bass in the lead heading into Tuesday.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Pratt has capitalized on frustrations over rebuilding efforts cited by many residents who lost homes during LA\u2019s wildfires. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a choice between a Mayor who reduced homelessness and hired more officers, a Councilwoman who voted repeatedly to allow encampments near schools and to shrink LAPD, or a reality TV villain. We will win.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bass has come under fire for her handling of the Palisades fire, for which she faced criticism across the county.<\/p>\n<p>Pratt has capitalized on frustrations over rebuilding efforts cited by many residents who lost homes, including himself, to boost his campaign. Bass has also faced criticism over homelessness, after pledging major progress on the crisis while the city has only seen modest declines in unhoused populations.<\/p>\n<p>Raman, meanwhile, has criticized Bass\u2019s \u201cInside Safe\u201d homelessness program, arguing that the initiative is too expensive and unsustainable long term. Bass has pushed back by portraying Raman as ineffective on the City Council and unable to build alliances within City Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Pratt has gained notoriety and also earned attention from President\u00a0Donald Trump, with many comparing the celebrity candidate\u2019s rise to Trump\u2019s own transition from reality television star to politician.
