One model in particular draws lasting attention from that era. Designers Vitaly Batalka and CG artist Valentin Komkov recently completed a digital project that updates the second-generation Honda CRX from 1987 to 1991 with battery power.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-244281\"\/><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.techeblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/24122753\/electric-honda-crx-modern-hatchback-concept-1.jpg\" alt=\"Electric Honda CRX Modern Hatchback Concept\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\"\/><br \/>Batalka handled the initial design and 3D work, while Komkov brought the final visualisations to life. They did not utilize any of the sophisticated automated design tools, but rather classic digital processes. The end result is a three-door hatchback that retains the original\u2019s compact wheelbase and low roofline while also featuring a zero-emission motor.<\/p>\n<p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.techeblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/24122759\/electric-honda-crx-modern-hatchback-concept-2.jpg\" alt=\"Electric Honda CRX Modern Hatchback Concept\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\"\/><br \/>\nClean lines traverse the length of the body and merge with toned rear fenders to create a neat overall profile. Split rear windows are making a comeback, but with some modern updates. The frameless doors are paired with flush door knobs that are roughly level with the panels. The black trim around the bumpers and columns really helps define the contour. The tiny LED headlights replace the earlier large, blocky sealed-beam units. The nose lacks a grille, instead featuring the present Honda symbol in the center. There are some excellent carved lines across the hood that provide subtle depth to the front look. Those horizontal taillights extend far out in the back, and of course, an illuminated CRX insignia shines brightly. Finally, the bi-tone alloy wheels give the whole package a modern and dynamic feel. Every surface appears to have been meticulously crafted, retaining the compact design of the original CRX while looking new and current for today\u2019s roads.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.techeblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/24122808\/electric-honda-crx-modern-hatchback-concept-3.jpg\" alt=\"Electric Honda CRX Modern Hatchback Concept\" width=\"1280\" height=\"853\"\/><br \/>The electric motor produces a hearty 350 horsepower. The designers created a collection card with the idea specs, including a top speed of 285 km\/h, but let\u2019s be honest: actual performance would be determined by a variety of factors other than the numbers. For the time being, Honda appears to be focusing on other models, such as the upcoming return of the Prelude. Let\u2019s face it: the market realities aren\u2019t looking good for a little sporty 3-door. Overall, it\u2019s one of those designs where one piece complements the others without becoming overly embellished. If you followed the original CRX during its production run, you\u2019ll notice all of the traditional signals immediately away.
