Sen.\u00a0Adam Schiff, D-Calif., took to social media to say the resignation was her only positive contribution to the role.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the circumstances around her departure are deserving of our sympathy, let\u2019s be clear: Tulsi Gabbard\u2019s only positive contribution to our nation\u2019s\u00a0national security\u00a0is her resignation,\u201d\u00a0Schiff wrote on X.<\/p>\n<p>But Kinnett argued that the quick jump to politics on a deeply personal issue reflects what he described as a troubling shift in political commentary.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Former Deputy DNI Beth Sanner jabbed that Gabbard\u2019s DNI title stood for \u201cDo Not Invite.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">FOX News<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe most principled thing you can do as a wife is to leave something behind, as a spouse in general, is to leave your career behind,\u201d Kinnett said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the negative reaction reflected what he called a \u201clack of character\u201d from critics.<\/p>\n<p>Gabbard assumed office in February 2025 and is a\u00a0US Army\u00a0Reserve officer and combat veteran. She previously served in Congress for multiple terms as a Democrat before leaving the party to become an independent and later joining the Republican Party.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>President Trump said that Gabbard has \u201cdone an incredible job, and we will miss her.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In her resignation letter, Gabbard noted that her husband has been her \u201crock\u201d throughout their 11 years of marriage and during difficult deployments overseas.<\/p>\n<p>She wrote that she \u201ccannot in good conscience ask him to face this fight alone while I continue in this demanding and time-consuming position.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>President Trump responded to the resignation on Truth Social, writing that she \u201crightfully\u201d wants to support her husband during a tough battle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have no doubt he will soon be better than ever.
