height: 750px; background: #ccc; display: grid; place-items: center;\">\r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e2\" data-zoneid=\"5876678\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n  <\/div>\r\n  \r\n  <script async type=\"application\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/a.magsrv.com\/ad-provider.js\"><\/script> \r\n <ins class=\"eas6a97888e6\" data-zoneid=\"5876682\"><\/ins> \r\n <script>(AdProvider = window.AdProvider || []).push({\"serve\": {}});<\/script>\r\n<\/div><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft wp-block-nypost-editor-partner-article-links\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>A federal judge tossed journalist Michael Wolff\u2019s lawsuit against first lady Melania Trump on Friday, calling it a \u201ccontorted\u201d effort and \u201cnot how the federal courts work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wolff sued Trump to keep her from suing him for $1 billion for alleged defamatory statements he made about her involvement with\u00a0Jeffrey Epstein.<\/p>\n<p>Manhattan Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil, who was appointed by President Trump, claimed both Wolff and Trump had engaged in an \u201cinappropriate level of tactical gamesmanship.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite admitting that both sides have a \u201creal dispute,\u201d\u00a0Vyskocil said she wouldn\u2019t be \u201cconscripted to oversee an abusively presented spat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first lady\u2019s lawyer sent Wolff a letter last year, calling on him to retract the statements he made about Trump and warning that she would have \u201cno alternative\u201d but to sue him if he didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>That prompted him to file a state\u00a0suit against her in October.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s lawyer, Alejandro Brito, had the lawsuit transferred to federal court where Vyskocil said that while federal court does have jurisdiction, she was declining to exercise it and \u201cdismisses this case to be litigated like any other.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>A federal judge tossed journalist Michael Wolff\u2019s lawsuit against Trump on Friday, calling it a \u201ccontorted\u201d effort. <span class=\"credit\">CJ Rivera\/Invision\/AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A\u00a0Melania Trump\u00a0spokesperson said Friday that the first lady \u201cis proud to continue standing up to, and fighting against, those who spread malicious and defamatory falsehoods as they desperately try to get undeserved attention and money from their unlawful conduct.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 56-year-old\u2019s lawyer previously claimed that Wolff\u2019s statements caused her \u201coverwhelming reputational and financial harm.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first lady has\u00a0denied any association with Epstein, who died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on child sex trafficking charges.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>First lady Melania Trump shot down rumors about a connection between her and \u201cthe disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein\u201d during a White House address on April 9, 2026. <span class=\"credit\">REUTERS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe lies linking me with the\u00a0disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein need to\u00a0end today,\u201d the first lady said in an April press conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe individuals lying about me are devoid of ethical standards, humility and respect. I do not object to their ignorance, but rather I reject their mean-spirited attempts to defame my reputation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wolff claimed in his lawsuit that the\u00a0president and first lady\u00a0\u201chave made a practice of threatening those who speak against them\u201d with costly legal actions \u201cto silence their speech, to intimidate their critics generally, and to extract unjustified payments and North Korean style confessions and apologies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that some of his statements were taken out of context and some were protected speech, including a statement he made that claimed the Trumps have a \u00a0\u201csham marriage, trophy marriage,\u201d that his lawsuit says was a \u201cfair and justified\u201d opinion.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>President Trump and Melania embrace during the annual Congressional Picnic on the South Lawn of the White House, May 19, 2026. <span class=\"credit\">AP Photo\/Manuel Balce Ceneta<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It also said in his lawsuit that Wolff never accused the first lady of being involved with criminal activity associated with Epstein.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Daily Beast retracted an article\u00a0last summer called \u201cMelania Trump \u2018Very Involved\u2019 in Epstein Scandal: Author,\u201d that was based on an interview with Wolff, after the outlet received a letter from Brito.<\/p>\n<p>Wolff said that in his interview, which the retracted story was based on, he claimed the first lady was managing the matter \u201cbehind the scenes\u201d at the\u00a0White House, but was not criminally involved.<\/p>\n<p>Wolff has written four bestsellers about the president: \u201cFire and Fury,\u201d \u201cSiege,\u201d \u201cLandslide,\u201d and \u201cAll or Nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \u603b\u5bb9\u5668\uff1a\u6700\u5927\u5bbd908px Grid\u7d27\u51d1\u5e03\u5c40 -->\r\n<div style=\"display: grid;
